Most citrus is coming from South Africa and Australia now. Florida Grapefruits and California Naval Oranges will begin by months end.
Strawberry growers will now move to northern regions of California and we should have ample supplies through the holidays. Domestic Blueberries are finished for the season and we now move on to imported ones.
New crop yams and sweet potatoes are just starting. A noticeable greenish tinge may appear on their skins as they are not cured (kiln dried) yet.
California grapes are at their best!! The Flame Red Seedless variety has a firm, nutty cherry flavor. The Green Thompson variety normally appear to have a pale to deep yellow skin tone with some brown spotting. The brownish amber color is pure sugar from plenty of days in the sun!
